The CMI Health Infant Foot Wrap Sensor #72 is designed for the continuous monitoring of infants and toddlers under 25lbs and up to 18 months of age. This foot wrap sensor is designed for use with CMI Health Handheld Pulse Oximeters (not included).
Preferred Site: Patient's foot, on the edge of instep right next to the little toe.
This foot wrap sensor allows a user to measure the SpO2 levels, Pulse Rate and Perfusion Index of infants and toddlers. Accurate continuous monitoring of toddlers and infants can be especially challenging without having the proper sensor.
When using the sensor on your child, it is imperative the sensor is wrapped correctly around the infant's foot. Light interference and heavy movement can impede the sensor's ability to properly measure and record oxygen saturation and pulse rate.
Sensor Highlights:
If the sensor is incorrectly placed, you may experience difficulties getting accurate measurements over time. It is also important to note that pulse oximetry is designed for low movement. Incessant activity and movement can lead to improper readings. It is best to measure your infant during their restful moments such as nap time or overnight.
As a best practice, remember to avoid damaged skin and check to ensure the footwrap is securely fashioned before taking an infant's readings. This will ensure the infant sensor returns the most accurate results.
Note: The Infant Foot Wrap should be changed every 2-3 weeks depending on the usage scenario. This ensures the user receives the most accurate measurements and that the infant remains comfortable.
